Industry COVID 19 Support Information

As part of the Province of Manitoba’s reopening plan, the Province has developed a series of posters to help communicate both the mask and proof of vaccine requirements. They can be downloaded below and can be used depending on the requirements and needs of specific business sectors. They have also developed a few options that businesses may choose to use if they want to communicate that all employees in their establishment have been fully vaccinated. Colour versions, additional resources and materials in other languages will be available next week at https://manitoba.ca/covid19/updates/resources.html#posters

Tuesday, March 16 2021 the Provincial Government announced new supports for the Resource Based Tourism Industry. From the press release:

“Manitoba’s tourism sector – a key contributor to the province’s economy – has been significantly impacted by a reduction in domestic and international travel and other restrictions that were necessary to protect Manitobans and all Canadians from the spread of COVID-19,” said Pallister. “We recognize that these businesses have made significant sacrifices in order to protect their community. We are committed to helping them through this challenging and unpredictable time and to help position them for recovery.”

The new Hospitality Relief Sector Program, to be administered by the Manitoba Hotel Association and the Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters Association, will provide funding to hotels and full-time licenced resource tourism operators for fixed costs that have not been covered by other relief programs such as:
• property insurance,
• mortgage interest,
• property taxes,
• land leases,
• service fees,
• maintenance of camps, and
• resource retention costs.

Grants will be provided as a reimbursement for a percentage of eligible expenses incurred.

“This funding will provide a much-needed lifeline for the Lodges and Outfitters of Manitoba,” said DJ Seales, president, Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters Association (MLOA). “With the nature of this industry, many are facing a second year of no business due to the border being closed. MLOA would like to thank the province for partnering with and supporting these businesses and this industry during these uncertain times.”

More information on the Hospitality Relief Sector Program and how to apply will be available for eligible applicants shortly.

UPDATE (April 20, 2021):

On March 16th, the provincial government announced the Hospitality Sector Relief Program. The new Program, to be administered by the Manitoba Lodges and Outfitters Association and the Manitoba Hotel Association will provide funding to full-time licensed resource tourism operators and hotels for fixed costs that have not been covered by other relief programs.

Many members have contacted MLOA seeking further details about the program:

Since the announcement, the MLOA has been partnering with the Province to work through the program details and criteria. We are getting close to finalizing the terms and conditions. We are also in the process of developing an online application portal.

As we move closer to completing these necessary steps, we will soon be able to open the application process. We are committed to getting these funds out to resource tourism operators as quickly as possible.

On April 27th, 2021 at 7PM we will be hosting a virtual information session, where we will share details about the program as well as requirements and the application process. The below Zoom meeting invite is your access to the virtual information session. Please share this with other operators that we may not have the contact information for. They are more than welcome to participate.

To prepare for the meeting and the launch of the application, please ensure that your business is registered and up to date with the companies office and your RTO license is up to date as of 2020. If you are unsure of the status of your RTO license, please contact:
