Why should Manitobans care about the Seal River Watershed proposal?

Why should Manitobans care about the Seal River Watershed proposal?
Because it’s not just about the north. It’s about the future of land access across Manitoba.
The proposal would impact nearly 50,000km2 that could change how land is managed, who makes decisions, and what activities are allowed, including licensed hunting and outfitting.
Hunting and angling tourism contribute $1.5 billion annually to Manitoba’s economy. Supporting jobs, communities, and conservation. This proposal puts those contributions into question.
Most importantly, this is the first IPCA of its kind in Manitoba. It will set the precedent for future protected areas across the province, including several in central and southern regions. The MLOA is encouraging folks to consider reviewing this proposal as if it were your favorite outdoor space in question.

The Alliance, provincial, and federal governments have been working on this proposal since 2021, but we get 45 days to try alerting and educating our industry and the public about a proposal that has the capacity to change the future of land access, outdoor activities and Manitoba tourism for generations to come. How is that reasonable?
