Voices from the region matter: Seal River Watershed Proposal

Recent opinion pieces from the Manitoba Wildlife Federation and a major northern tourism operator are reinforcing a common message: conservation and responsible access should work together, not against one another.
For decades lodges, outfitters, and tourism operators in the region have helped steward these lands and waters while supporting local jobs, northern economies, and world-class outdoor experiences.

Now many are raising concerns about what this proposal could mean for future access, tourism operations, outcamps, infrastructure, and the long-term viability of businesses that have operated responsibly in the region for generations.
The MLOA encourages Manitobans to read the recent Winnipeg Free Press opinion pieces from Ken Gangler and Carly Deacon to better understand the perspectives and concerns being raised around the Seal River Watershed Proposal.
The Seal River Watershed Proposal is too important not to get right. Board consultation, transparency and balanced decision-making matter.

The Alliance, provincial, and federal governments have been working on this proposal since 2021, but we get 45 days to try altering and educating our industry and the public about a proposal that has the capacity to change the future of land access, hunting and Manitoba tourism for generations to come.
How is that reasonable?
